I think he was baiting you to see if you said Oh yes I had one on it and then tell you later on tuff Dodge will not pay for it. That being said its still not right to have Dodge pay 100% of the repair cost when you had a programer on it that may have casue the problem.

i would do the exact same thing he is doing. in my opinion, dealers have screwed enough people out of warranty work they should have paid for. now its just there turn to pay one!!!

depends on what the cause of the oil trouble is.
does the programmer he installed bump up the pressure and now the injector body is cracked?
if no pressure and a cracked injector, his mod didnt cause it.
did an oring fail due to improper assembly at the factory? then mods didnt cause it.

if his mod raises rail pressure to 26k, and an injector tip is cracked, then he should do the honest thing, own up to it, and pay the man.
the idea of dealers have been hosing people for so long, now its their turn, is wrong.

when the dealer told you the only way ainjector goes bad is if the truck has a chip on it is wrong!! Dad got a 07 5.9 cummins and with 488 miles on it it filled the crankcase with fuel and they replaced 4 injectors due to bad bodies.

Yeah, can't blame the buyer for wanting to know about bad injectors BEFORE the warranty expires.

(kinda' like my Furd 6.0 buddy who came over the other day and asked if he could pull my loaded toy hauler up over the pass before his warranty expires - wanted to see if anything would break)

Well I had the smarty installed and I never have had my truck over 80 mph I put the smarty on 1 then 3 then 5 and went 1 run about 1/8 mile then went to 3 and left it. The truck is 2006 and has 12501 miles on it. the last 2000 miles I have had the smarty on the truck. If the smarty caused that then I think Mads would have alot of ****** off people and they would not be doing the type of bussness they do on here. Again I dont believe the service manager was trying to goat me in either. I say it was just bad injectors!!

Or you can have a poorly machined head, like mine. The injector would not seal correctly. Mine was leaking slightly for a while until the O ring failed and then it dumped a lot of fuel fast into the CC.

On my 04.5 I had 2 injectors go bad #4 & #6. That was after the Lift pump went south then a few weeks later the CP-3 failed. Also 4 rail pressure valves and a few other items.

After 2 years of fighting Dodge over this I jsut traded. New truck is a clone of the old other than an 07, otherwise same truck including the 5.9. Totally different animal. Stronger running, much better fuel milage like 40% better (getting 16-18 mixed driving while other got 16 highway).and it still has no miles on it (3800) and quite a few other things ae noticably better. My guess is that you got the perverable lemon like I did, the 1 out of 100. Maybe the tuner helped make it happen a little faster but maybe it was destined to happen.
I wouldn't admit to the dealer you had a tuner, but if he pushes it with facts (I'd ask him to prove it to me) then you may be your own warranty source. With that statement out of the way make them prove it. When I broke the injector in Corbin Ky the owner made my life miserable and kept me there for an extra 3 hours till DC approved the warranty status and he tried the line that these truck don't break like my history showed. I told him to find where I had a tuner or chip and he finally just walked away. There was nothing there and hadn't been so he knew he couldn't prove anything. He just make me have to get a motel for another night. But it is a known fact that there are quite a few injector problems out there and many are not running tuners or chips. And like "vettehead" the dealer makes you jump thru hoops till a true mechanic works on the vehicle and finds that there is truly a problem.
