Check Engine Light

Hi Guys,

This may have been addressed before, but over the weekend I installed the OEM fog lights as well as a CB and hard wired the GPS into the truck. The truck runs fine, but now the check engine light is on. How do I turn it off? Help here is appreciated. Also, what service manual would you guys recommend?

Thanks

Tom

I don't know where or how to get the codes but the engine symbol on the dash is illuminated.

The MadHatter just gave you the link on how to check them. Basically, you turn the key on and off 3 times, do not engage starter. On the third cycle, leave the key on.

Does it count that I lived in the Southeast? I was stationed at Bragg and Benning once.........Yea, I guess that makes sense getting the bucks from Freddie since they have all of ours now! Thanks again for the help!

Okay here's another question.......I realize that the Cummins is probably the BEST engine in its class for reliability, power and torque. I am concerned about the tranny. Is there anything out there that can keep up with the performace of the engine like after market parts or whatever? I work my truck hard. That Rolls Royce engine weighs 10K and I push the limit with close to 26K sometimes but I do not abuse it, just work it hard occasionaly. Any ideas? And do I make sense?
