Chassis Cab Suspension?

I was passing through the local dealers lot the other day looking at what they had in stock. I noticed tucked in the rear corner was two regular cab, drw, cab/chassis trucks. One was a long wheel base the other the shorter wheel base.

Anyways, what I was wondering was what is up with the design of the rear end. It is MASSIVE!, nice thick main spring pack with either two or three overloads... but what caught my eye was attached to axle its self was some kind of tie-rod looking thing (sorry for the poor description). I know on the passenger side of the truck it attached to the frame and then to the forward portion of the axel very much like where the shock would be, but it also had a shock as well.

I was on duty at the time and it was dark and drizzling so I didn't hope out of my cruiser to take a closer look or pic's. Plus it was 5 mintues before the end of my shift . Sooooo, if anyone can spread a little details about the the rear end assembly of the cab chassis trucks I would like to know. They sure looked quite more truck like than the current trucks.

Master of bad descriptions,

Mike

Well the pic's posted by DanTana answered that question really quick... Swaybar links...

Now I ask, whats the deal with no skid plate under the fuel tank!? I'd hate to back up over a stump that you didn't notice with that.

Look again, there is a skid plate there. I know mine has one, a pretty heafty one, and in the second photo of the fuel tank you can see it. Third photo from the end.

Ahh... I see the skid plate now. Having only skimmed through those photos I didn't notice it. If you look quick it looks like its all tank.

My mistake..
