Changing Tranny Filter Few Questions

when i change my tranny filter how much and of what type of fluid do you guys like to use to refill it? any tips i need to know when changing it? or is it as simple as draining it, removing the pan, replace old filter and gaskets, seal it up, and fill?

When I had my trans filter replaced at 10K it took 6.5 qt's of AFT+4 trans fluid. Being Valvoline makes AFT+4 fluid now some people like to use it rather then Mopar brand of AFT+4 and some others like to use Amsoil ATF fluid. No matter what brand of fluid you use make sure that its ATF+4 and not AFT+3 or Dexron. IIRC the pan gasket is reusable if you take care when dropping the pan.

I used the stock Dodge trans filter as my local Napa said there book did not show the 48RE trans and it was only $20.00 from Dodge. Also it would of cost me more to buy one online and pay shipping. Anyway as for fuel filters I once used Fleetguard Stratapore but I'll be switching over to the Baldwin PF 7977 as its a 5 micron fuel filter and it specs better then the new Fleetguard 7 micron. IIRC the Napa Gold is still a 10 micron filter, their EX is a 7 micron as per a post about them. BTW both Cummins and Dodge want us to use a 7 micron filter and not a the 10 micron like they used in early 2006.
