I'm ready to change the oil in the transmission. I got some Redline MTL at the local Summit and some black Permatex also. I plan on taking the PTO cover off so I can wipe out any solid material in the bottom after the oil is drained.

So I guess after taking the PTO cover off, you can just scrape the old gasget material off and put some fresh Permatex on?

yep... you can also grab the magnet in the bottom of the tranny and clean it up too... i used a razer on the transmission to scrape it clean and then some brake clean to make it non greasy... on the cover, i used a gasket grinding disc on a air sander, but a razor would do too... clean and non greasy makes it seal best for the gasket

Take out the bottom PTO bolt first and let it drain.
