Change of Oil Manufacturer

I am thinking of changing the make of my Engine Oil, I have been running
ESSO XD-3 0W40 full synthetic , however it is getting harder to obtain here and I can buy 0W40 MOBILE Delvac 1 full synthetic. It goes on sale quite often.

I would think these top quality oils are made to meet the same specifications, my question is will the engine have any problems with the oil brand change from the ESSO Synthetic to the Mobile Delvac 1 .

I note EXXON MOBILE owns both Mobile and Esso, maybe the oil is identical?

I don't really think it will notice any difference but what do you think???

Also I have some Esso left over, but not enough for a full change, would it be OK to mix the two oils in an oil change??

Thanks

While most oils state they are compatible with other oils, I prefer not to mix them.

Unless you do UOA you may not ever notice a difference.

I agree. I used Premium blue for a long time and this time I went with Mobil Delvac 1300 as it is quality and was half the price on sale. From what I userstand as long as the oils are all rated the same ( CJ for example) and the same WEIGHT it really doesn't matter.

I ran into this a while ago ( You must be a Canadian too) I phoned the
1800number on the bottle and talked to the tech dept of Esso in Montreal and they told me that it is the same oil. I bought a 4x4 case( 4 four litre jugs) the first time and I noticed that it did not have the SM class for gas engines that the Esso previously had but I then bought a case of 12 one liter bottles and the SM classification was on the bottles. I use this oil in my Cummins my wife's Grande Cherokee and my snow blower. I have used the Mobil Delvac for the last 3 oil changes with no adverse effects.
