Can someone please explain to me

Why diesel costs nearly on dollar per gallon more than regular unleaded, while last year it was twenty cents cheaper?

Almost $4.00 a gallon here. I wish I had invested in diesel a long time ago. I wonder if the price will ever go down?

Prices in europe are much higher than ours. If I owned an oil company and could sell my high demand product overseas for a greater profit, I would. And they do. the US exports millions of barrells of diesel. Between europe and the millions of deisel trucks on the road - well, the higher the demand the higher the price.

Somebody with a bombed Dodge smoked a towel head in a ricer at a stop light. It's their way of extracting revenge.

I have read a few articles stating that the US exported a record amount of bio diesel and diesel last year.

I would also bet the cost to remove the sulfur adds extra refining costs, and they're always eager to pass on the cost to us, with an added profit tacked on.

Supply and demand. There is a far bigger demand for diesel than gas so the oil companies can gouge the price and feel justified. Think about it... semi trucks, trains and big boats all run on diesel. They all have to burn it to make a buck.

Also manufacturing plants use diesel or home heating oil too.

Diesel dropped here in Vegas last night-16 cents in one night......went from 3.99 to 3.83 at two stations. Other stations around town are still 3.89-3.99.
