Can my truck do it?
Heck if it was in IDaho I'd own it!!!
I asked him what the tow rating of his Ranger was. He said he didn't know, but he thought it was around 5,000 lbs. I then told him to find a 5,000 lb. 5th wheel RV first, and see if it's what you really want. Also consider that those tow ratings are usually optimistic and specified for flatlanders driving near sea-level. Better to have too much truck than too much trailer.
I think I ended with "Can you really see yourself pulling a 5,000 lb. trailer over (such-and-such 8% grade mountain pass) with your ranger?" and "what is your transmission rebuild budget for next year?".
A few years back i had to deliver a ranger on flat as it gets texas ground for a guy i was working with, the sucker dident want to pull its self i couldent imagine having to pull 2000 pounds with it MUCH less 5000
. . I think someone would have more luck walking. . .
