Can fuel filter fit upside down?

...the things that wake you up at night.

I'm 99% sure I've been putting the fuel filters back in the way the first one came out. Yesterday I put in a fresh filter and I can't remember how I decided which way to put it in. Looking at the outside of the canister I can't even figure out how fuel is flowing in that thing to logically figure out how to orient the filter.

Is it possible to put it in upside down? - which side should be up?

Don't quote me, but I believe the side with the hole on it faces upward.

The filter fits in the canister only one way. The rod inside the filter housing fits into the hole in the filter.

the filter snaps into the cap with some little taps around the od of the filter cap, it can only go in 1 way, backwards it just falls out of the cap and it wont go in at all anyway cause of the hole in 1 end.

Unless you were using the wrong filter.....or was it even the fuel filter that you were changing ......or maybe your just having a bad dream. It is pretty sad that the unreliability of these trucks (all trucks Dodge, Ford and GM) has messed with our subconscious and increased our paranoia to a degree that it has.

I remember that when I was a teen working on my truck... RE/RE anything, modify anything without any worries. It is the little black box that has created this mess and IMHO it is only going to get worse.

I think you are right. Then again maybe I was just less concerned when my entire car was only worth $600... But, I used to be able to figure out how stuff worked by looking at it... now with sensors and wires everywhere you're just never sure. Still, now I have the Internet to ask and somehow, someone seems to know.
