I ran waste oil in my 97 GMC 6.5 turbo diesel all the time. I mixed it 50/50 and it worked great. In an old bone like that I did not care to much about it. I pumped it through a 4 micron filter then dumped it in. I do not put it in my 01 dodge and I am sure I would not put it in a $40,000.00 truck. I never had a problem on the GMC, but if I did the Injector pump is $600.00 not $1600.00.You do the math, half price fuel vs. break down, towing, injectors, pump, ect, ect. is it worth it?

Had an interesting one the other day. They call it "Black Diesel". I was talking to a guy that ran an oil recovery business....he changed oil on equipment out in the field and such....had a 6.0L PSD. He was running 50% oil and diesel. Planed on running 95-100% oil come summer……….HUM……his issue was his fuel pressure from our system was dropping too low….but pressure was not an issue with 100% #2…….Told him he need to heat the fuel or use a bigger pick up in the tank. Moot point really…but I was SHOCKED this guy ran such a high %!!!! BUT so far so good…..we will see….cant say it’s not a good lubricant! Haha….

After I changed the oil in my wife’s Honda Pilot, I dumped it into my tank…..no issues there and free 1.25 gallons of fuel……NOW my oil out of my truck….i run a synt blend….dont think that will work very well……

BUT what you save in cost on the pump you make up for in labor to install if you have someone else do it. That is not an easy pump to R&R!!!! Been there and done that!

I would never consider running used motor oil in the fuel in any amount. used oil has microscopic pieces of carbon, bearing material, and steel in it. not all particles are filtered out by your oil filter or the oil wouldnt be black right? you guys do what you want but as for me I have a clean double burning smudge pot heater that gets all my used oil and I run it to stay warm when I'm working on something out in the yard. if the oil is so dirty that you want to remove it from the crank case, why would you then want to run it through such an expensive part with such tight tollerances as an injector pump has? so if you think about it, if you cahnge your oil every 6 or 8 thousand miles and get 3 gallons of used oil to burn in your fuel, you get maybe 45 miles of free driving? and probably put 5000 extra miles of wear on the inside of the pump by running all that crappy oil through it. I have posted on this before and everyone laughed but you would be surprised what will go right through a 7 micron filter. why by a 40k truck if you cant afford to buy the fuel for it? I feel sorry for you guys who do this crapn to your truck, hope the pumps go out before the warranty is through

The oil I ran in my gmc had everything mixed with it. It was motor oil, ATF, gear oil, synthetic, it was true waste oil.

Never had to put one on my GMC. I have done them on other 6.5Td's and it is not too bad of a job. I put a clutch in a ford dump truck today, I would do two GMC injector pumps over the clutch anyday.

I was reading an article on this in one the latest diesel mags. And they were actually saying that adding oil (wether it be engine or tranny) acutally decreases the lubricity of the diesel (believe it or not) which will lead to abnormal wear on parts that shouldnt wear, that being said, I know that for the 3 bucks I might save by putting used oil in my tank, I wouldnt put it in mine. Just too much money invested to even think of experimenting with something like that

I totally agree.

Here's a thought. Does anyone on this site have a microscope that you can take a picture of a sample of used oil, and then take a picture of a sample of diesel, and actually show what kind of crap is in each? That might put things into perspective.

If you think your new diesel fuel is so clean drop your tank and look inside your new fuel is used to cool the inj and fuel pump that takes some carbon from the engine and deposits it back into the tank Racor used to sell a unit that hooked up to the engine oil pan and the fuel tank and filtered the oil and blended it into the fuel after about a yr Cal stopped them from selling the units in the state of Ca.

When I had my tank down to install the bottom feed, it was spottless and I run oil in it.
