Broken Hard Part

Well going up the freeway, heard a pop and the truck immediately lost power. Was able to make it to the side of the road, no smoke out the back. Idle was lopey and rough...turned off engine...tried to restart and it sounded like something was trying to get out...has any one heard of anything like this before?

Unusually high exhaust temps. i.e. 1400+ for several minutes.

Not the Engine!

Well after two weeks at the dealers I find out today that my engine is AOK , it is the torque converter! how can a highly paid technician swear that the lower end grenaded, they went an ordered me a new long block, that they can't use now and a week later discover it wasn't the engine at all. When they started to separate the engine from the tranny, low and behold, they discovered it was a bad torque converter! I may have to stop by tomorrow morning and have a talk with them. I wonder how much they had removed from my truck before the discovery. You would think they would have pulled the drain plug, look for bits and pieces of metal before committing to a long block under warranty...and it may still be another week before the part comes in!
