You're kidding, right? Must be the britebox helping out those Silverstars I bought the latest and greatest Silverstar Ultra's and my Maglite flashlite works just about as well......

I must admit I went from Silverstars to Xenon and there is absolutely no comparison. The H.I.D.'s make all the difference in the world, especially in this crappy winter weather. I went through xtralights.com as well.

I've used SilverStars in both trucks and I think they're overpriced.

I never tried the silverstars by themselves, only with the britebox, but I am impressed with the whole setup. Best my truck has ever been

I was running the Silverstars. Wasn't that impressed the light output, and the roads tended to disappear when wet.
Switched to Nighthawks and it's a little better.
Wish someone would come out with a new housing that uses 9005/9006 so I can use the HIR bulbs.

Before you all add HID to your factory housing, you might wanna check this out. I know it's not from the US but the US has headlight standards too...

There are actually two Silvertar bulbs - one by OSRAM and the other by Sylvania, which is an OSRAM subsidiary here in the U.S. They are not the same. I think you can only get the real OSRAM Silverstar's from abroad. The ones you buy in the local Walmart are made by Sylvania and are not the same. If they have a blue tint, beware. Read this eye-opening article by Daniel Stern.

The key area is near the bottom. Sylvania SilverStars are not the same as Osram SilverStars. I do not believe that Osram even makes a version of the ULTRA. AND, my Sylvania SilverStars stink!

I gotta look this up but, I remember reading that the bulbs they put in Vipers and some John Deere tractors are the same, very powerful...

Anyone know what those bulbs are?
I'll keep looking.

Hey Wiggs.......

It's been a while since you put those HID's in your truck. How are they doing now? Any issues?

I was curious about the quality of the Ebay HID's.

I have been VERY pleased. I use them all the time and they are wonderful. Couldn't recommend them any more highly.

Hmm, I wish I would have kept the packaging on my bulbs. I had a set of "zenon" bulbs that I had bought off of ebay. Supposedly they were 80/110. Well I will tell you this, they were junk is what they were. Looked cool, but sure couldnt see anything. Now with the silverstars it is great. I put them in both my headlights and in my fogs. I allways run my fogs when I am driving, too many critters not too. On high beam it is awesome with the brite box. I can see much farther than the factory headlights. In fact I am thinking of changing the bulbs in my liteforces cause they allmost look yellow compared to the silverstars. Maybe it is true that we get different bulbs here in Canada (nice to see we finally get somthing better,, lol)

I ran a set of Silverstars last set, got the Ultras this time, a little better but alot better than stock. Just installed lowbeam GE Nighthawks in the wifes 03 GMC Jimmy but haven't drove it yet. They were the same price as the Ultras.
Anyway the Silverstars & Ultra Sil. are way better than stock. Driving on clear night the other night and I could start seeing the reflections of signs about a mile and a half away, not bad. Definitely would like the HID's though.
Just other things to spend money on and lights don't make you go any faster.
