Brake pedal doesn't fully return
Brake pedal doesn't fully return
It's on my 2006 Dually. The brakes pedal doesn't fully return after I release the brakes. It's an intermittent problem. If I lift up on the pedal it will stay up. It only stays down far enough to keep the brake lights on which generally isn't a big deal. It turns in to a big deal when I'm pulling a trailer with electric brakes. Any idea why the pedal isn't returning like it should?
Thanks,
Richard

You may just have a bad brake switch, I've gone through two, one wouldn't activate the lights the other would intermittently leave the lights on. I know on my brake pedal there is play for it to come up further, but I've never seen one fail in the sense of not returning enough, it's always been a bad brake switch at fault. If you haven't replaced the switch before make sure you follow the directions, you can only set them once.
I have the same issue with my 04.5 and my brother has it with his 2006. It is intermittent and it definitely is a problem with the pedal coming all the way back up after release. We both have adjustable pedals and fiddling around with those settings helped short term. I thought it might be a weakened spring. Is there a spring in the switch? How else would the pedal return when released?
