Kind of dumb down here.
Hell I bought one. It only dipped to around 25 some nights, and the heater did not make a difference.
When you are up in OR it got really cold I could see it helping.
No idea how cold it gets at your new place though Damon, I have not got my invite :P

Well nowonder. Look were you are though. Here it gets -5 in Indiana and stays there for days at a time at night. I've seen it -23 up in Wisconsin before when I've been driving through. BBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I was told by the parts department at my dealer that all the 2007 cummins engines have a block heater in them from the factory. I supposedly just have to buy a plug kit for $50 to use it.

I just went to my local International dealership. BAAAAA
They had the cheap push on one for 12 bucks but the screw on kind they wanted 36 for. I started looking all around and the guy goes what are you looking for. I said the sign. He said, What sign? I go, That sign that’s making you think I was born last night dude cause I know that cord is much cheaper than 36 buck's. Like it’s the middle of summer so to tell you the truth I really don’t need one yet nor will I this winter for that price as I walked out his door. LOL
I just saw one for 24.5 on eb sent to my door the screw on type not the cheap thin wired push on type.
Well Indianapolis has plenty more truck dealers so I'm off the find a cheaper one to buy it from.

Agree completely, was just pointing out that the Dodge version is available cheaper than buying from a dealer.

I had a espar heater installed on my 06 ram. The intake heater did not come on all winter even when it dipped to -36 celcius (about -33 ferenheit). It also started blowing warm air immediately.

Block heaters are a mandatory item in Alaska. I typically plug in when the temps drop below 20 F, but the Cummins has no problem starting down into the teens. We have had a couple of spells when it drop into the -20s for weeks, and without a block heater it is a rough start, but will. My stoker won't even think of starting without being plugged in, and the cummins will start, but it doesn't like it. just FYI, the block heaters are at about 1000 Watts, so typically we don't leave them running all night. Normally have it on a timer, and 3 hours before i go to work in the morning it will turn the heater on. Run a heavy gauge wire to the block heater if you require an extension cord, normally i run 12 gauge. you can run thinner gauge, but not preferable. Also, a couple of people have started fires when the block heaters have shorted, so be careful not to park in a place where a fire will also burn your house down...

Do you know the part number for the cord from cummings? I went to the local cummings dealer and they said that they needed a number because there are so many cords out there.
