BIO in 3rd Gen

Has anyone been using 100% Bio diesel in a common-rail. I've been thinking about starting to make Bio for my 2005, but I want to here from anyone who has been using it in a common-rail with NO PROBLEMS. I don't want to hurt my enging in any way!

Thanks CRIS

I consistently run B20 to B99.9. I currently am running B20 because my last 2 tanks for B99.9 yielded 13.4 and 12.6 mpg but I did find a boost leak so I'll try one more B20 and then another tank of B99.9. That's hand calculated. My overhead says 16.4 mpg.

Keep in mind.....anything over 5% and your warranty is gone!

There is a good point to be taken here. Make sure what you put in your fuel tank is indeed ASTM quality biodiesel. Some home fuel set-ups don't produce 'good' biodiesel...or biodiesel at all.

ive run b99 every now and then when available, normaly run b20...
pick up a fuel filter and change it after the first tank or two and you probably wont see any performance decline.

I've been running "store bought" bio diesel for the last 2-3 years. I usually mix it to give me around a B20-40 mix. I can't say I've noticed a mileage hit due to running the bio. NO PROBLEMS.

FWIW, As long as I've got my warranty I'd NEVER run home-made bio (WVO or SVO) in my truck, nor do I plan on running it AFTER the warranty runs out.

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=110932 he got dino diesel from a pump and they dont want to fix it. so even fuel from the pump can be bad. why not put in homemade quality fuel that costs less, lubricates better , has higer cetain less soot, sulferdixoide, biodegradeable, and the exhaust smells like a BBQ. stop listening to big oil ANYTHING that takes profit and dependance away from then is bad and must be destroyed

karl, are you quoting a "I got a friend who......" story that you read on the internet? c'mon, you must have more sense than that. Parts of those stories are probably true, but you have to wonder about all the other parts of the story that are unsaid, distorted or "stretched". These kinds of websites have all kinds of stories of warranty denials on folks "who are totally innocent of any kind of wrongdoing" - I've read many of them myself. All victims; yeah right.

You can make your own swill and save the world; I'll continue to do what I want to do - just spare us the preacher bit...
