Big black hose???

I have this hose coming out of the driverside corner of my valve cover and it goes down and is open. It looks like it was leaking quite a bit of oil in the drive tonight. What is this hose and should i be worried?

Oil breather tube. It will leak some (blow by). A little more than that something is wrong.

It's a crankcase vent. A little oil isn't a problem but I've never seen any drips from mine in 123k miles.
Pull off the plastic shroud on the valve cover and underneath that you'll find a liquid / gas seperator. I would inspect that for function. I believe it has three hoses on it.

Check your oil level on the dipstick. If you have a leaking injector, it could be filling the crankcase with fuel.

If you dumping fuel into the crankcase, the oil level will rise on the dipstick. That the easiest way to tell. It's not unusual for a few drops of oil to come from that hose every now and then. Mine usually does it right after I change the oil and put too much oil in. Once enough leaks out, it does not drip again until the next oil change, or if I run it hard when it's warm.

I would keep an eye on the dipstick, and if the dripping gets worse, have it looked at...

Mine will drip some after a good long hard workout.
But definately check the oil level and make sure it's not rising.

i checked the oil today before i left work to go to lunch and it was like a quart or so above full. Should the oil be thin? It didnt smell like fuel?!?! And it still gets great milage. On the highway the lie-o-meter was saying around 25!

Mine leaks

That tube has leaked for most of the time I have owned the truck. It is an 05 with 50,000 miles on it. The oil level stays right on the money. I tied an oil soak cloth around it to catch the drips so not to leave spots on the drive. My oil pans has a slight leak in it and has every since 10,000 miles. But I do not want it touched for fear the gasser mechanics will screw it up. I stopped in at a cummins dealer and they were not interested in fixing it under warrinty.
