BD Power Performance steering stabilizer review
BD Power Performance steering stabilizer review
I installed the BD Power Performance steering stabilizer a couple days ago.
The brace comes complete with everything needed including loctite, and very good instructions. In a nut shell, all you do is drop the sway bar, remove the steering arm nut, screw an extension onto the steering shaft, put the brace under the sway bar mounts, bolt the sway bar back on, put a bearing on the steering shaft and tighten the bolts up!
Impressions? Wow. I can't believe there was that much flex in the steering box mount, because this brace really tightens the front end up. The handling is just kind of unbelievable. And I only have 34" tires....
The brace is well made and complete. I have a shop and a welder, all the steel etc., but when you think of fabbing something like this up versus just paying $160 and getting it complete, just buying the complete kit is the way to go. The bearing alone will set you back $30 or so....
I give it a 10. Worth the money, well thought out instructions, all parts included, simple idea and product, well made.

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

Installed mine about 5,000 miles ago. Towed my fiver about 4,000 miles with it on. It has made a positive difference on my truck and I would recommend this mod. There are cheaper versions available, but no idea of their quality.
same here... by far, it is the best single improvement that ive made to my truck....
I never experienced the Death Wobble, and had the steering update done, truck is all stock with stock tires... but the truck would never feel like the front end was "in the road" always felt like it was a crack-head on a 7 day binge... twiching all around and always seemed to making small inputs to the wheel...
Installed the BD stabilizer and drove it down the same roads.... it was like driving a COMPLETELY different vehicle!!..

I was getting some slack in the steering and knew part of it was in the gear box, ball joints and tie rods were all tight. Truck is all stock including new tires and at 106K miles.
I recently installed the stabilizer. It removed at least 1/2 the slack. I then did a small adjustment on the gear box and removed almost all the slack from the steering. Haven't towed with it yet but empty is much better down the road.
If you are running over size wheels I think this mod is a must.
Lost Lake I did not get the thread lock with mine but was $31 less. They by accident sent me the shaft extension for a second gen truck, but express mailed me the correct one.
