disregaurd

whenever i start my truck i watch my volt/battery gauge go up and down. it will stay at around 14 or so then all of a sudden the headlights will get dim and my guage cluster will get dim and the volt guage will drop to about 9 or so. but then the lights will get brighter and the guage will go upto 14 or so again. then it will do it again, drop back to 9, with the lights dimming, and all of a sudden like 10 seconds after it will go back upto 14 again. i told my dealer and he said that all dodges do that...you ask me and a truck shouldnt be doing that because its telling me that its putting a lot of stress on the battery. can someone help me or is this normal.
