Batteries dead!

Batteries dead!

Did a search not much help....Went to work, truck was fine. Left work seemed to struggle starting (sounded like batteries dying) got on the road and the voltmeter wasn't in the red but at the far left of the black. As I drove, the gauge sank lower and lower. Got it home but now it is dead. I assume the alternator took a dump but this is my first diesel. Any ideas?

Thanks brother. I will make sure that they know about it. Sometimes they are a little dense. The guy I talked to at the dealership said "huh" when I told him my injection pump was leaking...

Update: Thanks to kokalit, the symptoms sounded just like that TSB he mentioned above. So I took the truck back to stock with the SMARTY and jumped it with the wifes Jeep. She started up and began charging no problem. The CEL came on and I checked the DTC, and it was P2509 - Powerdown Data Lost Error - Diesel. Is it possible the smarty TNT doesn't have the latest TSB's? I am taking it to the dealer monday and telling them to update that TSB. THen I can play again!
