Ball Joint Help

Well anyways, I have a 2005 model CTD quad cab short bed and I think it might be time to do a little maint.

I have 66,000 miles on the truck, and haven't check but I'm sure the ball joints are bad. When my truck was brought into the shop to do an alignment they told me I had a bad p/s tie rod end. I think what I'm going to do is the ball jonts, and the tie rod end. I'm sure the ball joints are bad as it's the MOST common problem on this truck.

My dilema. What's best. What should I be looking at in terms of ball joints. Should I need the upper and lower for both sides? I see some sets are $550.00 and I won't spend that much on ball joints.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks.

Chris

You might as well do all four bj's since you'll have it apart. At $550 I'm assuming that was thru the dealer? If I remember right I picked mine up at napa for under 300 for all four.

$550.00 were quotes for aftermarket uppers I was seeing on here.

Also, it's certain. I took it into the dealer today for service and had my mechanic take a look into it. Def. the upper ball joints are toast. I'll replace all four and I'll do it myself, just trying to get a good price, and a good product.

Do the '08 steering upgrade if you're going to do the tie rods. Dodge has superceded the parts for a good upgrade.

If you buy the Carli joints, they'll more than likely outlast the truck. Replace them with stock bj's and you will be replacing them again in the near future.
