Baldwin vs. Fleetguard fuel filter.......
I called Baldwin and asked for the best filter in the world, and they said their filter is the same as the Fleetguard. Just how you test it... The engineer also said there is NO 2um filter on the market. Again, it's all how you test it and what kind of marketing you do.
So based on what I heard from the Baldwin engineer at the factory, I use the FLeetguard made by Cummins. If there is a problem, I'll let Cummins deal with it.

Read post numbers 6 and 11. Thats is where mine is mounted, the fuel base part number I used and the part numbers for the fittings I used for my setup.

Both Baldwin and Fleetguard are awesome filters, the reason the Baldwin engineer stated there are no 2 micron filters on the market is simply because there is no national test standard below 4 microns. Any manufacturer that states 2 micron filtration with their products is not certified and is reliant on in house testing only. While I believe Cat is an excellent filter, please show me the 2 micron testing procedure used and validated?

cat filters r well built, but they can no longer claim 2 mic, would and still do use them however...just stateing fact, if u really want the best, get a racor setup, builtin internal post seals, high quailty but $$$, its oem on many vehiles.
I would take a Fleetguard system over a Racor any day.
As long as my engine is a Cummins and warranted by Cummins, I think I'll stick with a Cummins filter that Baldwin said is just as good as theirs.
No need to get your undies in a bunch, I know everyone thinks there are super duper filters out there, but so far I have 90,000 pain free miles with never draining the water and changing the filter every 15,000 or so.

You are following the factory recommendations so I can't imagine why you would have problems. Then again 90k is not that many miles but I glad your injectors are treating you well.
The filters for your truck are built by Fleetguard to meet Dodge specs, not Cummins or Bosch specs. Bosch has stated that a minimum of 5um absolute filtration is needed for their CP3 and injector for maximum reliability. Dodge has chosen not to meet this standard. They are working on a 5um filter.
Of course Baldwin is going to tell you their is just as good as the OEM filter, whey would they tell you otherwise? But on the SAE J1985 testing (the one that Fleetguard uses, and Dodge specs in their filter TSB) the Baldwin is 5um absolute, whereas the Fleetguard is 7um absolute. The Baldwin also holds a lot more dirt. All things that indicate a better filter.
Is there anything wrong with the OEM filter, no.. it just doesn't meet the specs of the company that built the CP3 and injectors..
One of the biggest things people don't understand is that even thou our engine is a ISB Cummins, its only covered by Dodge, and Dodge specs all of the filters, intervals, programing, etc.
You will get zero grief from Dodge for using their filters.. but in 10K miles the bill is on you for issues.. There is a reason people don't find stock good enough, history has proven additional filtration is a must.
