Bad Turbo + No $$ = junkyard parts questions

I think my turbo is bad. It occasionally had an odd sound to it on the decel. Last night I got stuck in the mud and may have heated it up a bit. Now I'm smoking and the turbo sounds worse on decel. (like a bad bearing)
Normally I would take this as an opportunity to upgrade the turbo. However with work the way it is I am having enough difficulty payin the bills let alone a new turbo.

SO...If I were to find a junk yard that would have such items, what years would bolt right up with minimal issues? I'm just afraid that mine is gonna shatter and tear some stuff up. Or if anyone knows where I can get a used one cheap.???

Thanks, Dan

Have you looked here on the classifieds? I'd rather talk to the guy and see what he did with rather than look in a junk yard... That's just me.

I'm sure that there are a few stockers floating around from guys that have upgraded their turbos, and still have the stocker.

Good luck...

I agree with ya, it's just that I need CHEAP and usually if someone actually posts somethin in the classifieds, they want decent $$ for it.

UNLESS SOMEONE WANTS TO HELP A CUMMINS BROTHER OUT.

Hey, on a good note, I did get unstuck BEFORE the powerstroke boy got out of his truck to help.
