Angry Is this bad? transfer case fluid

About a week ago i changed out all my fluids, for some reason i thought that the transfer case uses the same stuff as my differentials. So i put in 75w-110 oil in it and finally just realized that i messed up. My question is will it damage the transfer case and how quickly should i change it?

I would change it soon. You probably notice it's a little hard to engage into 4 wheel??

It won't hurt anything for the short time it has been in there. Like above though, I would change it back to the ATF+4 as soon as you can.

You should be fine given the short time that the gear oil has been installed. Be sure to change it out with ATF+4 as soon as possible.

You may also want to consider changing it a couple of times to purge out the residual. I doubt those two oil types like to play together very much.

if it was me, i would be draining it asap, and leave the plug off for a while, let it all come out, anything left in there which would be minimal, the ATF will take care of it.just try to get most of it out.

Was there gear oil in it when you drained it out? (Otherwise why would you think it took gear oil?)
Don't think it's hurting anything, especially in the short term.
Have a trailer with oil bath hubs that reccomends 40wt oil. Been using 75W-90 and it runs cooler.

This link shows 75W90 gear oil to be about the same as 40W motor oil.

I'm with the guys saying to drain it soon, and then do a second drain to get any residual gear oil out. Not that much extra money, but that's just me.

IIRC the trans fluid is serviced every 30-40K and there is no drain plug the TC/ Torque Converter to drain it and my self the bands only get adjusted once between 30-40K and then never again unless it starts to slip.

The TC that he mentioned was for Transfer Case I believe as that is what this thread is discussing.

I change mine every second transmission oil change.

IIRC the transfer case is every 60k miles. I did my standard trans and t-case at 45k miles and will continue every 45k.

You can do what camperandy does and be just fine.

Yeah manual trans and transfer case call for 60K mile intervals. When I did mine at 60K miles the transfer case oil came out looking like mud. I am now at 114K miles, I'm gonna do both again at 120K.

I guess I should clarify my interval also. I change the transmission filter and pan oil every 20 to 25 thousand, which is much more frequently then the manual calls for.
