Very possible. Bad or weak batteries do funny and strange things to these trucks.

And if one battery is gone you have to replace both of them otherwise the used battery will "pull" down the new battery.

Funny...I didn't realize this when I went to replace one of my batteries. After thinking about it, went back in and bought the 2nd one. This was another moment (of MANY), when I realized that diesels & their upkeep was a bit more signifiant than past Z-71s (gasers)!

I have a 2500 4x4 diesel '01. My batteries were replaced in December 08. I figure they should last longer than 2.5 years, shouldn't they? I am going to get them tested tonight, but when I turn the ignition it has a slight hesitation that started yesterday. Hopefully it will start again when I leave work. If it is the batteries, what reasons could make the batteries life so short?

I made sure the dealer replaced both, because in 07 they just replaced one and it died by 08.
