auto tranny and reverse question

I tow just about everyday and of course I need to back the trailers every now and then. When I back up a small incline with even a small load, I have to give it alot of peddle to get it to move backwards. It revs past 2k before it even thinks about moving. I know reverse gear is real high, but this just doesnt seem right. Does this sound normal to you guys, or could there be an issue?

Mine did the same thing the other day. It also shuttered, did not sound good. My 96' 1500 gasser didn't do that until about a 160,000 miles not 34,000. What's going on with these trannys?

if you are towing a trailer with an older surge brake system backing up will engage them. backing up a hill makes it worse because the trailer is already pushing against the ball thanks to gravity. and even the newer style surge brakes ,flat five connector, will do it when you disconnect before launching a boat. if your trailer doesn't have surge brakes disregard this post.

Mine does it with the gooseneck on it. Its got electric brakes. Tranny got really hot really fast too! went from 130 to 260+ within a few seconds. took almost 2600 rpm before mine started to back up and the trailer was empty. Oh this was also in 4LO. I was really dissapointed in the transfer gears if my tranny is working ok.

Yeah, electric brakes on mine too. I dont have guages, but Im sure that my tranny gets pretty hot while backing. Is it something to have looked at or just deal with it?

I saw in another post that there was a TSB for no power while backing. Anything to that?
