Angry ATF+4 Price Increase ?

Called a couple of local dealerships last week for pricing on ATF+4 in quart bottles. I was quoted $4.10 per Qt. Stopped last night to pick up a case and was quoted $7.50 per quart. I left the case on the counter. Called the other dealership today and was told the price of $7.50 per quart. Talk about a weekend price increase !!!

Trust me when I say we were as floored as anyone. We can't even buy it for what we used to sell it for.

Boy imagine if a tranny flush cost 200 dollars and the price went up almost double. 400 for a flush, geesh, I'll just put a 47RE back in with a upgraded vavle body. heck for that much you could use it for a new tranny

It was my understanding the DC released the rights to make and sell ATF+4 sometime last fall. I believe that there was a thread here, if not on TDR about it. I thought I saw a post with a different manufacturer with ATF+4 available, but can't really remember.

i called my local dealer for a price too. same thing here. $7.50/ quart, $29.xx/ gal. and it takes around 7 quarts just for filter change . but i an going to call some local bulk oil distributors and see if the have it yet. sure cant get it at the local parts stores. oh BTW i have been advised not to run anything but atf+4. i asked on here if i could run atf+3 and was told that atf+4 is partial synthetic and if tranny requires it, it needs to be ran with it. just what i was told on here as well as another diesel site. so i'm gonna play it safe and just bite the bullet

bigdaddydodge, I felt the same way. The difference in price on a case of Mopar ATF+4 and Valvoline ATF+4 'compatable' was $50. I just can't bring myself to void my tranny warranty over saving $50.

On another slightly 'old and cranky' note, Dodge didn't instill any brand loyalty with me at the parts counter this afternoon. I HATE feeling shafted.

Hmmmmm. Shaftership?

RedLine C+ATF

Redline C+ ATF is supposed to be compatible.

"C+ ATF is a synthetic ATF for Chrysler 7176, ATF +2, ATF +3 and 9602 ATF +4."

It can be had for $7.00/qt., if you shop around.

Pennzoil Multi-vehicle ATF. Full synthetic. Around $3/quart. If you have any doubts, contact Pennzoil for a recommendation.

I guess I got lucky. I had the dealer service my transmission two days ago and I paid $4.10 a quart.

Had mine done last week at dealer.

Had mine done 1 1/2 weeks ago at dealer, cost was just under $100 with filter change, gasket and fluid. Not a good price but still better than worrying about keeping warranty intact.

I paid (with tax) right at $100 for a case of ATF+4. I changed the filter, loosened the valve body mounting bolts for additional fluid draining, and added a Hag-Hytec regular pan. I used 11 quarts when refilling. Glad I bought the full case.
