Any tips for engine removal.. ???
So I am getting ready to pull the engine to have the bottom end freshened up because of an assumed rod knock. What are some tips to make this go easy. I haven't pulled a diesel engine out of a newer Dodge (this is a good thing ) and any help greatly appreciated. What to remove, What not to remove, Where to lift, etc. etc.
Also, while I have the engine out, what are some things to look at / replace. The engine has 204,000 miles on it. Should I worry about the oil pump ?
Thanks, dan

Take your time for one. Before you do pull it, make dang sure that it's free from the truck, i.e.. bolts, elec. connections. Being it has that many miles, I'd try and do a complete rebuild, especially with a rod knock. God knows how much metal is in there. Replace all hoses, accessory belt, engine mounts, front seal on the transmission, flush the radiator, power steering, use new coolant.
