I use additive at times(Howes)but Others I know with these trucks don't and never had in 150k plus miles on two trucks I know of.One a couple years back a 03 started with a 130k started surging and stalling on restarts low speeds.It had a bad FCA.Owner could add a big slug of additive of several different brands and it would clear up until it was no longer used,suspect FCA was sticking.What was interesting about this the ONLY additive that didn't do squat was LUCAS.Even a 1/2 bottle of it.All of the others he tried corrected the issue temporary.Lucas did nothing.

 

I use BG-Prod diesel conditioner every fill-up. No problems so far.
