Anti-Freeze leaking??

Was just leaving my daughters basketball game and noticed it wet under the front of my truck. Looks to be anti-freeze. Looking under the truck and I can see it wet on the alternator bracket like it is coming from somewhere up top but cannot see where the source is? Any thoughts or anyone else that has had a similar leak? I am wondering if the thermostat may be stuck or bad? The system seems to have pressure because I went to check water level and it was still under pressure after sitting 5-10 minutes? It has not ran low or high temp, Warms up to around 190 and stays there? I will need to spend some time tomorrow to see if I can find where the water is coming from.

Any help appreciated.. Jeff

Look at the little hose coming off the top of the radiator. It's a non pressure hose but I've seen alot of these trucks leaking there. Should be tell tale white marks starting there and on the shroud also. Put a small clamp on it and you'll be fine.

i had a similar leak. noticed a wet spot under the engine. at first i thought it was transmission fluid. i took the truck into the dealer ( it was still under warranty) they told me it was a coolant leak. they said a clamp was loose on the passrnger side and it was leaking from there.

Looks to be my water pump. All hoses appeared to be fine. Had to remove the AFE stage 2 housing to get a good look at the lower hose and water pump. I could see the pump wet behind the pully. looks like the shaft seal may have started to leak. Was nervous as I was having a hard time locating a replacement. Autozone had one so I am hoping it will hold up OK? I would have rather used the local cummins shop but they are closed on weekends.

Looks to be an easy item to change. 2 bolts and a rubber o-ring. I am going to do thermostat while I have the system drained. What a cheap drain valve on the radiator. Slow and cheap plastic. I thought it was going to break by my fingers just trying to open it.

Ha! You think its difficult now, wait till you put it back in. It could take you 30 min or you can press in hard ( hint hint ) as you turn it and be one of the lucky '30 second' guys.

Well luckily I did not remove it. All I did was turn it about 1 turn to get it draining and left it there til it stopped. Took took about the same to close it back off. That is one cheap drain.

Well I have to say the water pump is the easiest I have ever done. I also did the thermonstat at the same time since I had the system drained down. Both of them were nice and easy because of the o-ring the use to seal them. No paper gasket to clean up before replacing. It was harder to get the belt back on all of the pulleys than it was to change the thermosat and water pump.

Anyone care to let me know if I can bring the defective water pump to Dodge for a replacement? I would have called them but all of the service shops are closed on Sundays. I went to Autozone and picked up a replacement as I needed the vehicle tomorrow to get to work. Would be nice to have one paid for on the shelf if it falls under the 100K warranty. Only 85k on the truck to date.
Thanks, Jeff
