Alternator - OEM or Aftermarket ?
Alternator - OEM or Aftermarket ?
Dealer says my check engine light was indicating an alternator failure, but after a software update, the error cleared and they sent me home. The next day the truck died on the side of the road. Tow truck driver was able to jump it, but I had it sent back to the dealer.
Dealer says they can put a new Dodge alternator on it for $750 or they can give me an aftermarket (new, not re-manufactured) for $430.
What's in there that could make it worth an additional $320? (My original lasted 158k miles and 11 years.) If you were replacing yours, which would you use?
