Is this all Cummins has?
Re:Is this all Cummins has?
I agree boss, my new truck is a hoss(haha rhyme) i have absolutly no complaints and either dodge owes him a new truck or the story just aint the real deal....just my 2 cents :P

Some people in this thread may be legitimately disappointed in their new trucks towing power and will most likely be happier with the 4.10 like Luke S has said but . . . I still think certain other people with the outrageous stories are trolling. I don't buy it that Cummins (not Dodge?) went to the expense of replacing a "turbo, pump, ..." without any inprovement or agreement that there is a continuing problem. I don't buy that an HO with a 3.73 can only tow 5000 at 43 to 48 mph over flat country. Story just doesn't wash. JMHO

The Boss Hog

[/quote]

(quietly agree with you under my breath, but trying to restrain myself)
Re:Is this all Cummins has?
I'm with you fella's to. I got a guy who is running an 03 3500 QC 4x4 Ho with 3.73's who pulls 20-30k sometimes and says he's had his up to 90mph with this kind of weigth. I think that that is stupid but I also think it's possible :
Re:Is this all Cummins has?
Well my 3.73 with the auto is definatly a legit problem. I would'nt be going through this hassle if it was'nt. I'm very confident that the next truck will pull the way I want it to, not 20,000 lbs just 8000 lbs very comfortably.

I don't beleive in bombing something just to get it to do what it is suppose to in the first place. I know that towing is'nt suppose to happen with quick speed, look at the tractor trailers those guys take forever to get up to their crusing speeds. My complaint is merely cruising speeds and keeping the truck in O/D while going 70 MPH on the highway, thats all. I will stand by my statement that SO auto's with 3.73's is not a good towing setup, maybe for the average pulling a boat guy, but not me.
Re:Is this all Cummins has?
Dodgeclown, if you are really having these problems there is something wrong with YOUR truck, not dodge or cummins as a whole, because i know my truck has made me happier than my 98 did and i still love my 98. didnt mean to come off as to call you a liar, i just couldnt believe those kinda problems out of a cummins when i love mine so much...let me know what the dealer says after he drives it.
GOOD LUCK
Re:Is this all Cummins has?
Well that's great there are going to get it taken care of. I hope after you get your truck back it makes you as happy as everyone else truck has made them. Good luck -Anthony
Re:Is this all Cummins has?
i'm new to this form and i just bought a 2003 so cummins with a 5-speed and i'm very happy with it ;D i test drove a 3500 so with a auto and it had a lot less power then the 5-speeds have [undecided] the red line on the auto is a lot lower than the 5-speeds also which makes me believe that the trans are not as strong as they should be. the 3500 auto was very slugish when the pedal was at the floor very slow acceleration compaired to the 5-speed. i just dropped the muffler and added a straight
pipe. took out the silencer ring and replaced the air ristrictor between the air box and the turbo with a 5" pice of s.s. looks
cool and all the cost about 50.00$ and 5 hours of my time it is much louder now but i love it and i want to get a box when the prices come down i see the www.performancecombos.com is selling a box for about 700.00 a little pricy but i will have one in time i also herd that drilling hole in the factory air box and adding a k&n filter helps alot and saves a lot of money buying aftermarker.
hope that helps
