alignment

Hello all,
I am having a heck of a time with the alignment of my 2004. I originally noticed it pulling to the right at aout 9k since that time I have tried 3 different alignments to no avail, the alignment folks even tried to set it a bit out of spec. DC replaced the steering gear assemby, still no change. I have rotated tires, front to back, the tires are still scalloping. Anyone with any suggestions? The tires are AT Pro Comp 33x12.5's on factory alluminum wheels. Tha right had pull happens on most road surfaces. Thank you for any help.

Did it do it before the tire size change?

Good question, my appologies for the missing that in my original post. I put the Pro Comps on at 1500 miles and was good up to the 9k.
Thanks

Have they checked your ball joints or your track bar?

I used to work in a tire shop as a kid and every once in a while we would have a set of tires that would just start pulling one way or the other. Not sure what caused this but the only thing that would fix it is a new set of tires and an alignment to spec. Most of the time the tires would show some sign of uneven wear most likely from being out of alignment or some defect in the tire. The problem would never get better until the tires were gone.

I can't be sure this is your problem but it might be a good idea if you are thinking about a new set of tires sometime soon.

Mine pulled to the right and it ended up being the tire.

Have the same prob. with mine, been to the dealer 3 times, no good solution. It got better when they took the alignment out of spec.

- what makes me angry is after the first alignment I brought it back in and they set it to factory specs AGAIN - HELLO! If factory specs don't work the first time what makes them think it's going to work again 3 weeks later? I don't think they drive them a lot, or at all, because they would have noticed the factory spec didn't do any good.

GET A PROCEDURE FROM THEM BEFORE YOU DROP IT OFF. IF YOU CAN ELIMINATE ANY OF THE STEPS TO GETTING IT FIXED BY USING YOUR COMMON SENSE DO IT!

They *said* last time they simply swapped front tires and it did seem to make things better for a while but it's back to pulling to the right. I'll be seeing them again soon.

good luck - you'll need it!

Eric

Thanks everyone for the replies, a few more questions:
1. wouldn't it be odd for the right hand pull to happen after the tire rotation.
2. Both the independent tire shop and DC looked at tie rod ends and ball joints.
(I have no relationship to the DC shop, however, the independent shop are folks that I trust)
3. I am thinking of new tires and naturally am thinking of going bigger, how are 35's wearing on the factory 8 inch rim.
Thanks Fellas.

If you have a brake hanging up slightly it will pull! It will pull if the air pressure is low on the right! It will pull if the road you are driving on is crowned!
