Re:Air heater coil power draw - lights dimming

Warm down here - - no chirp. I heard the chirp was on the older ones with the small belt.

FiverBob,
My truck was built in December. Would that qualify as one of the older trucks you are referring to? Just going from memory, I thought you have had your truck longer than I have. Regardless the owners manual states the chirp is normal. Mine only does it occasionally after long drives when the engine is at full operating temperature.

WOW...a self-priming fuel system?......what'll they think of next?........ Cool.......I wonder if it retrofits to the earlier models?

Thanks All,

Kind of got off topic didn't we? I did read my manual from cover to cover - the first evening I got the truck. But there IS so much in there that it must not have sunk in to my graying gray matter.

I wonder what the on-board computers think of the power "brownouts" when the "Automatic Air Preheating System" kicks in and out and in and out? ???

I know F*rds use 5.0v to the sensors. No way that glow plugs (powerstroke) or grid heaters (Cummins ;D) would drop below 5v when cycling. HTH
Mine clicks and dims, it also chirps, and I read the manual. Many many MANY questions asked in these forums are answered in that little book...
