Air filter/torque tube/exhaust question?
Air filter/torque tube/exhaust question?
I'm looking into upgrading my stock system.Anyone have any suggestions on the best combination. I'm not into mega horsepower(yet), just looking into increasing milage and sound.
thanks

Afe Stage 1 intake with proguard 7 and dave's big blue hose it is a alternative to the torque tube one piece house made of Silicone so it has an insulation factor where the torque tube use's two rubber elbows and a metal center pipe which can transfer heat into intake. I would also look into the scotty air systems. As for exhaust Diamond eye has a nice 4 inch system available in aluminized steel, Banks as well has a nice turbo to tailpipe system in stainless steel
STRAIGHT PIPE!!!
I got another 2 mpg, and it sounds AWSUME!!!
GENO'S Garage muffler eliminator, its worth every penny!
I used WD40 to loosen up the stock muffler clamps, took my truck to the local muffler shop and told them I had an aftermarket muffler to put on it, they didnt look in the cab for the "muffler" until they had cut off the old one so even though they were afraid of getting in trouble (removing a muffler altogether is illegal) they were commited to do it at that point!
I kinda planned it to work out that way because doing it myself laying in 6" of snow didnt sound to fun!
Loosen the muffler clamps up or remove them before you go to the muffler shop or when they throw that impact wrench on the nuts it'll twist the bolts right off! You only need to save 1 of the 2 clamps.

We consistently get reports back from customers that their MPG has increased by adding exhaust and air intake systems. Stands to reason, more air in and out will get better BTU use of the fuel to get a slight MPG increase. Call us if you have any questions etc.

I have an AFE Stage II intake, standard afe filter with/pre-filter and 4" Banks Monster Cat Back Exhaust. The combination is ok for me. Did not see any real performance or mpg gains. I did see 75-100 lower EGTs across the board with the exhaust.
I have the AFE torque tube and had it on for awhile, took it off for Dealer TSB and injector replacement. It did not do much of anything except make the turbo whine noticable; not too loud in the cab, but definitely heard outside.
The Banks exhaust is not much louder than stock except when accelerating through torque rpms. I do not have any drone at any rpms or speed while cruising.
This is an expensive combination compared to other options, but the material quality and fit were worth it to me.
Just my .02 worth.
