Air filter/ desert climate

How often do you guys that live in the desert change your air filter? I have about 13k miles on mine now and it does appear to be pretty dirty. I have twice taken it out and banged in on the concrete to get alot of dirt and crud out of the pleats. I just ordered a 4/2/1 pack from Geno's and will probably throw the Air filter on just to see if mileage and throttle response improves. Lastly, the filter minder I think hasn't moved a lick. I press on the reset button till my thumb is sore and I still don't see it move. Is the reset button supposed to be sticking out some to allow you to reset it if everything is working properly?

change the filter I do mine every 15000 a little dirt in a engine is not a good thing and do not bang the filter on anything to clean it you may very easily rip some of the pleats that will allow dirt in the engine a new filter is a lot cheaper than a compresser wheel for your turbocharger and intake valves and pistons aren't cheap either.

I think the filter minder is a cruel joke.

Both of mine have never ever moved at all.
