AFE or Scotty's

Tax time cometh, and I am getting a little extra money this year. Have decided that the Cummins needs to breath better, and as such decided to put an aftermarket air intake system on the truck. After doing my research I have narrowed it down to Scotty's and AFE. I want the best of both worlds, air flow AND filtration, and from the sounds of it, these two products come the closest. I can't make up my mind and would like to hear some experiences from those who have used them.

Thanks.

Never run the AFE, but I do have the Scotty III in my '03. Install was a breeze and I'm very comfortable with the UNI filter regardless of the "test results". The first time I towed with it, I did not see any decrease in EGT's, which was disappointing. However, upon some investigation, I realized my winter front was blocking the front inlet of the Scotty, effectively making it use the same air as the stock setup. I removed the winter front and sure enough, my EGT's are down a good 50-75 degrees under the same towing conditions. Like I said, I can't speak for the AFE, but I'm happy with my Scotty.

I have run both...get Scotty's Ram air. I have never git the AFE to run right again after cleaning. The Scotty is perfect over time with the Uni Filter.

I put a Scottys in and I will just say you will not regret it at all. Am more comfortable with the Uni filter than any other. A great upgrade!!

Four layer, right? Not PG7? I don't see how a properly oiled and installed PG7 with outerwears could suck any, let alone "A LOT" of dirt...

For the record, I have one of the early scotty 3's, that include the K&N style AFE filter. Despite all of the reports etc about poor filtration, my oil analysis reports have been outstanding, with very low silicon levels.
