Hi guys I need an opinion. My aam 2003 11.5 - 3.73 is making noise and needs to be rebuilt. I came across a used unit from a 2006 for $800 and 70k miles. I am thinking about just buying the 06 complete assembly then swapping. Opinions please!

 

Well, that saves about half the money for a rebuild for about half the life of it. So 6 of one and half dozen of the other?

Although you really should see a lot more miles out of the pumpkin than that.

I don't think that is such a bad idea if everything is in good condition and you don't mind the work.

 

That's not a bad price, if it checks out I'd have no problems running it. Decent looking oil and no excessive gear lash are important.
