8" lift kit
8" lift kit
I have seen some trucks with the skyjacker 8" lift I was wondering where i can find one. Skyjacker does not advertise one on there website for a 02-05 2500 diesel, and i searched google all I can find is a 6" also with this lift will I need longer drive shafts and brake lines? I have 2" level spacers up front could I retain those and a couple add a leafs on the rear to save some $ and make the 6" kit an 8"?
Try this site www.rockymountainsusp.com/dodge4_03diesel.htm they have alot of lift kits from different manu.
Skyjacker does not make an 8 inch kit for our trucks.
The biggest normal lift I have seen is the 6 inch from BDS. I suppose you could get that and slam your spacers on top of it and have an 8 inch lift but you'll need to make some other changes.
I believe the BDS kit comes with an indexing ring for your transfer case, although I am not positive. You will need to index your transfer case down one notch and then modify your stock transmission crossmember to clear the driveshaft. You might also need a new front driveshaft with a high angle CV. If you go with a high angle, I would recommend installing the manual locking hubs conversion from Dynatrac so your unbalanced CV driveshaft won't vibrate the hell out of your truck.
You'll also need an adjustable track bar. Contact Don at Thuren Fabrication http://www.thurenfabrication.com for one.

Thanks guys, that rockcrawler kit looks pretty trick I am going to call about pricing monday.
Djg did you have to index or do any drive train mods for your lift? also what brand fender flares are those on your truck?

Rock Krawler is a great company to work with... I didn't know they had that lift out for the 3rd gen trucks so I'm sorry for the misinformation. I would be leery of using blocks on a diesel, though. Go all leaf spring if you can.
I didn't have to do any drivetrain mods for my 4.5 inch lift. Some people can go up to 7 inches with no driveshaft vibrations at all. Most agree that 5.5 to 6 inches is the limit before doing something about the front shaft.
My fender flares are just the "stock" flares that come with some sport packages. I've seen a lot of other sport models with them.
