600 oil pressure

Hey there everyone. Loving the new truck. Im sure people drive more than I do but 500 miles in 4 days isnt bad :P Guess i never look, or realized it until today

The oil pressure guage, when driving 50 or so ill have 41 or so PSI, But when im idling or doing the slower in town driving ( 25mph or so) The guage sits at the bottom of the "operating range" Is this normal?

Our oil pressure gage is not a true gage I have been told. It shows you what the engineers think you want to know. Somewhat like a glorified idiot(sp) lite.

Mine does this also. Normal. There have been a couple posts about this in the past - as the above poster said, programmed to do what Dodge "thinks" the average Schmoe wants to see.

Yeah, me too. Mine sits just a hiar to the right of the left bar. Crusing just a hair to the right from the middle. From what I read, it is a normal reading. Yeah when I first looked down @ the lite, made me do a quick look again. I figured that if it's within the lines I'm ok...

Thats the facts.....the oil psi "sending unit" is nothing more than an on/off switch. Closes at 7 psi.

What J Body says is right , on the med trucks the oil press. is a on off switch and set for 6 psi , and our test equipment will read it at a steady 55 psi all the time , and the OEM will actually make the oil press. gauge move with the RPM of the motor so you will have that warm fuzzy feeling that things are right.
