Re:6 speed gear clash

While I haven't noticed it gain rpm often when I shift, mine does exhibit a marked difference in how RPM drops depending on how high you wind it up. If I shift at lower RPM (from 1500 - 2200 or so), revs drop quickly. If I ever wind it up beyond 2500, rpm drops really slow for a few seconds when you push the clutch in.

I suppose since this is all controlled by ECM these days, there could be something wrong with the programming or a sensor. Could also be an issue with the governor.

I seem to remember others complaining of this with some of the first RAM HD's. Does it not act this way on all? I can't imaging being able to speed shift ever, at least nothing like any other previous manual trans I've ever had.

My list of manual cars I've owned is long but this is my first HD manual truck. I grew up learning to drive on farm tractors and have always bought manual trans for all of our vehicles when ever possible.

Kris
'67 SS Camaro convertible with Y2K LS1/6 speed
'01 VW Jetta TDI 5 speed
'03 Ram 2500 HO 6 speed
