I doubt that they are going to put the 5.9 in the 1500 trucks. It is just to much weight for a 1/2 ton truck. I think that the 6.7 will be an option with the 5.9 being the standard. But everyone has an opinion so we will just have to wait and see.

its also been rummered that the 1500s and some suvs will get a cummins built 5.6l vblock design, not sure if thats true, imo although built by cummins its a step in the wrong direction

It was also rumored the the new engines for the cummins would be V6 but that was just a rumor. It is still going to be an I6. Rumors always tend to spread like wildfire, I will wait for the facts to show up.

the 6.7 WILL be out By jan 1 2007 to meet the new emissions standards that start then. Our current engine will not pass the new regs. I don't know if they are gong to be introduced this summer or if they are going to be another .5 model year

The story that I am getting. Is the 6.7 will be in the new ram 4500. The person I talked to said they thought the 6.7 would not be in the 2500,3500 trucks in 07.

I hope there will be a 4500 or 5500. I heard that a few states were inacting some laws that would fine a 3500 or lower if it was towing a trailer longer than 27-8-9? feet.

Duallydog....just got back from a run thru NE, IA and SD and these states are getting tough on anyone pulling a trailer reguardless of vehicle. In SD anyone over 6k (unless RV) has to stop at weigh stations! In IA they are saying you even need fuel permits if diesel powered.....fortunately I was ignorant of the rules and blew on by.....till I hit SD!

6.7L stroke 5.9 will happen - for sure.

6-speed Auto by Aisin - for sure.

4500/5500 - for sure.

Redesign in '09 - for sure.

'09 trucks will have a different interior manufacturer than current '94 - '08 trucks.
Lear manufactured the interior for the 2nd, and 3rd gen trucks. Johnson Controls and Visteon will manufactur '09+ trucks...

It looks like DC will going the way of Ford. A New motor halfway through a new body style, then a redesign of the body after the motor has been tried and tested. (I like that idea)
