What is so bad about egr? OEM's have been using it successfully for over 30 years in gasoline passenger car engines. Why does it seem to cause so much trouble on diesels?

They've had problems with the EGR on gassers also. My 96 Impala SS was recalled because of EGR issues. The 6.7 will also have a particulate filter which may help but the biggest EGR/diesel issue is soot. The 6.0s are having major issues with it as are the Volkswagon TDIs.

Ford 6Liter has lots of issues with the EGR and the VGT. Seems the vanes like to stick after they get carboned up. I am happy with the CTD just the way it is. Its a simple engine that I don't think can ever be beat. We will see!

Hmm, well maybe their filter will keep problems to a minimum. If anyone can make egr work well on a pickup truck diesel, it's cummins.

There is a thread in the General Diesel Discussion page discussing the new motor. One of the members has a link to a Cummins Bulletin discussing the EGR, and how simple and reliable it is supposed to be. As far as the new technology goes, i'll have faith in Cummins as they haven't let me down yet...

That link is what I'm referring to when I mention the filter. It does sound pretty workable.

Well, everything I have read states that the engine has been in use for 2+ years in "other applications." So they will have most likely worked out and issues.......hopefully.....

Guys, I liked that it will only be in Duallys, Cause duallys rule. I'll wait till TST builds a Box for it and II builds a EGR ellimination turbo kit. It is suppose to come with a 6speed Aislin auto tranny...I hope the tranny guys can upgrade them. It looks like an Allison and Aislin makes tranny parts for Allison. ks

I don't think it's an Allison, it might be a CAT for all we know. Course I don't know much anyway, and I am good at it.
