I have a 03 2500 Q/C 4x4. The truck has 5800 miles and I am getting a Chatter or rattle like noise from the shifter. Not loud but enough that you pick it up. Is anyone else getting this? Any ideas? I have had other five speeds in different trucks and this sound typicaly signaled a rough bearing. Thanks.

 

When do you get the noise? Clutch in, clutch out, in gear, moving, only one gear??

 

Moving with the clutch out in 3rd through 5th gear. I can grab the shifter while it's making the noise and by pulling or pushing it side to side it gets louder. This is not a loud noise but I feel that in shouldn't be doing this. It didn't make the noise when I first got the truck in Sept.

 

I wonder whether it could be cold weather/ lubrication thickness related??

 

Could be, I Guess it's under warranty til 70,000 so it's not a big deal unless it gets worse. Get's annoying though in a new truck.
