4x4 noise

Yanked it into 4x4 to back out of drive way it started to pop and bang like diff was slipping.Doe's it in forward and 4x4 low also.Had it in 4x4 this summer to get camper through muddy yard didn't notice any thing.Could the ram on front axel not be engauging all the way.??Dually in ohio snow storm pretty useless with no 4x4.

I'd investigate that xsfr case a little more. Your aam front axle does not have an axle disconnect like the dana 60 does on the second gen dodges.

Bad u-joint? Mine is banging and clanking and I can see the u-joint is trashed.

Check your fluid level in the transfer case. I had a leaking bushing on the yolk that slides onto the output shaft and it eventually ran too low on fluid. I don't use four wheel very often, so it went from operating fine, to six months later making some very bad noises and jerking badly. Two wheel drive was fine by the way, but the t-case was toast. Went ahead and replaced it with a Jasper reman unit. Could be worth checking the fluid level.

I second the u-joint being trashed, there's more slip in snow than in other conditions and that's when its gonna show its self the most...

A bad u-joint on a front Axel will make noise in 2 wd and be worse in 4 wd...
