What a joke. Who knows what needs to be done to an 05' 48RE to get it up to 06' specs? Either I get an update from DC or the trans gets dropped and a bunch of money is getting spent to fix a problem that DC has created. I am one of those that really dislikes the 2005's TOW/HAUL feature. Sure, it works some of the time... but sometimes it's simply awful. Any 48RE techs know if there's any hope for the 2005 owners?

Well if I had a 05 with the 48re I'd be bugging the dealers for a reflash to put the 4th gear lockout in there like the 06 has. No reason why this cant be done.

Somebody somewhere must know how to fix this. I'll try my local dealer and see what they say.

Me thinks that DC needs to offer a powertrain and drivetrain tech line just to support the needs of the owners of 2500/3500 series trucks. It seems that for the most part nobody in DC-dom (or is that dumb) can offer any real information on their product line. Are there any DC MECHANICS around that can HELP?
