What mine does is not move or show any signs of TC engagement when strating cold in the a.m. What I have done as a workaround is put the trans in neutral for 5-6 seconds after initial start up. Then everything is fine.

I know that its not normal for the truck to drain out the t/c. You should be able to start the truck, let it warm up then put it "D" and go. Putting it in neutral for 5 or 6 seconds it not normal. You should have both trucks looked at.

Amazing the little tidbits you can find in the manual, if you take the time to read it.

According to page 271 of my 06 Owner's Manual:

Note: If the vehicle has not been driven in several days, the first few seconds of operation after shifting the transmission into gear may seem sluggish. This is due to the fulid partially draining from the torque converter into the transmission. This condition is NORMAL and will not cause damage to the transmission. The torque converter will refill within five seconds of shifting from Park into any other gear position.

My 2001 did it too so it is not new to the 06. Nature of the beast. My tq converter would drain in 2-3 days. My brother-in-laws 99 drains overnight and he has 80,000 trouble free miles on his tranny.

In Park the pump in the tranny doesn't work. So when you start it shift into Neutral and by the time you get oil pressure up and stable you are good to go.

As I said, my brother-in-laws drained over night and he didn't have a problem. If something has changed in yours then I would suggest you take it in and get it checked. Your under warranty you know.

This is something that Chrysler products have been doing for over 40 years. Ever since they came out with the Torque Flite. And now, instead of fixing the problem, they say it's "normal". Well, yes, it's normal for a Dodge, but but is it really necessary.
