47RE Service

I just serviced my 47RE tranny with recommended mopar ATF+4 fluid and filter. Upon removing the pan the magnet was in my opinion very "hairy". My truck only has 34,000 miles but I am concerned about to much wear. I do quite a bit of towing but not excessively. 1 to 2 times a month, 9100lbs, travel trailer. I have never had a problem and the tranny works fine now. Just wondering what the rest of you guys are seeing during tranny service?

Don't worry about it There is always going to be some wear and besides you said this was the first service so there will be some from breakin. I had mine done when new at about 3k miles, so I took care of that problem then.

I'm getting ready to service mine too. I just turned 35,000 this week. I'll be installing my tranny temp sensor in the pan when I do it. My shop manual has the procedure for the 46RE and 48RE but doesn't mention the 47RE. I'm hoping the procedure for adjusting the bands is the same as far as torque and number of turns. Anyone know?
