47RE or 48RE?
Please delete this thread. I was wrong
I learned how to count and see this is a HO. Sorry.
Is there a way to tell by the VIN of an 03 if the automatic is a 47RE or 48RE? I found info on seeing if it is a SO or HO, but not on the tranny.
Here is the VIN: 3D7KU28C43G786611
It is a 03 SO CTD 4x4 QC LWB with 38k miles and they are asking $21k, and it is a dealer, so I assume they would sell it for around 19ish
Thanks,
Nick

The easiest way to tell is to check the build date. Its on the sticker on door. see if the build date is after 1/03. But by your vin that truck may be an HO so it would have a 48re. But the 03 used the C for both HO and SO. But if it was built after 1/03 its a 48re and any 02 build date probably not.
Sorry guys, I miscounted the numbers in the VIN and didn't realize it was HO. It will be a 48RE. I had a NV5600 in my 03 and after getting rid of it a few months ago, I am missing the diesel power. I looked at new ones, but no one around central OH seems to have 6 speeds, so I started looking used and found this one. Looks like a good deal if it checks out.
