41250 miles and pinion seal and trans leak!

I went in for my service interval today. While the truck was on the lift I did the inspections with the tech (as usual). We found my front diff pinion seal leaking, and my trans leaking from some where on top. We checked the fluid levels and the front diff was over full, so we corrected the level. Could this be why it leaked? If so will correcting the level allow it to seal properly again?

The tech called the trans guy over and he said it was most likely the shifter seal that was leaking on the trans. He also said he has replaced several of them. Anyone else seen this or done this seal replacement?

Pinion seal replacement parts and labor quoted at $160 +/- does this sound reasonable?

I was just under my truck tonight and noticed slight coating of oil to the right of the front pumpkin(looking at it from the front) is this the where the pinion seal would be located? I'll try and post a pic tomorrow. I sure hope I dont have to make a trip to the dealer. Truck will come out with more problems than it went in for.....

The pinion seal is where the drive shaft comes into the diff housing. As far as links... I didn't post any and don't see any???

If the diff. is over filled you can cause axel seal leakage. If your trans leak is upper left side of trans, check the kick-down adjustment nut on trans. I have seen this leak a few times.

And yes $160 for a pinion seal is cheap actually.

Mine was leaking for about 1500 miles. At 23,000 was fixed under warranty. IDK why it started or if the level was over full.

'06 trucks only have 3/36 warranty. My trans is a manual, and the fluid is coming from the top down the right side.
