I have the plastic ones and used the mounting equipment from the stainless ones.., screwed on. You might want to have some battery blankets installed too! I have pictures in my gallery of the plastic fronts they match the truck that's why I ditched the stainless ones.

at -25F it sounds pretty normal to me. A cold front helps a little but only when moving. I do leave it plugged in while warming the truck up that makes a big difference. If it stays cold for any length of time I can go a couple of weeks without reaching full operating temps. The high idle feature helps a bunch I found at about 1250 rpms it starts to warm the engine up.

iam from central saskatchewan.with my 04.5 CTD 600 plugged in,inside an unheated shop and the ambient temp at -40c the truck fires right up without
the heater doing its prestart cycle.i have a 13km run to pavement and the truck reaches full operating temp at about the 11km mark.after startup and moving out
of the shop the truck idles for 5-10 minutes(mostly at 1000rpm) and then i head
out.the truck has a cloud rider ss winter front on,which seems to help alot.
last friday it was -33c with a northerly breeze blowing right onto the truck and i went out and started the truck(with no problems) and let it idle(1000 rpm) for 25
minutes.the truck actually warmed up in the time to a little over halfway to full
temp.the truck had been plugged in all morning and i left it plugged in while it was running.iam running 10w30 oil and caseih diesel fuel antigel.

How is running on 3 cyls going to help with warm up?

I read a while back guys were removing the fan. I'm not sure who but one guy said he doesn't need his fan until the temp get's to 60F. Anyone consider doing this.

Just to rub it in. Down here in Texas it is 35*F in the morning warming to 48*F in the afternoon. Truck starts great ! Just joking around, however I do feel for you folks up in the real cold.

Yes they do make a big difference in warming up. I have been running with a grill cover for 2 years. Won't run without one now in the winter.

Since you are N of T.O., suggest going to Canadian Tire. I got mine there for under $100 and it came with a screen for the summer as well when trailering.

I have the cloud rider winter fronts cost around $100, you can see a pic of it in my gallery. yes they do work, not to mention keep the crap form the roads from killing the intercooelr. I am up in Borden, maybe we can get together one day, along weith the rest of the To and area owners.
i have no problems with my truck starting, 03 ram diesel.

Go to cloudrider .com good luck and hope to see you
